Melamine polyphosphate, also abbreviated as MPP, is a white crystalline powder with a phosphorous content of around 12–14 %and ad nitrogen content of around4–44%. . MPP is widely used as a flame retardant additive in plastics adhesives, coatings, gs, and polymers. MPP is halogen-n-free and is highly effective owing to the presence of nitrogen and phosphorous, resulting in efficient P-N-synergism. Melamine polyphosphate is generally applied as anas additive and reactive flame retardant for thermally resistant polyurethane products. Melamine polyphosphate is hydroxy alkylated with propylene and ethylene carbonates to achieve oligos the rolls with phosphorus and 1,3,5-triazine ring. A melamine phosphate flame retardant is manufactured using a relatively less energy-consuming, environment-friendly, ly, and simpler method compared to the traditional halogenated flame retardants.

Melamine polyphosphate interrupts and slows down the combustion process by chemical or physical activity in the liquid-solid, id, or gaseous phases.
